The Lakehouse on Okareka, a villa built in the 1930's and lovingly restored by its craftsman owner, is a haven of rest and rejuvenation on the shores of one of New Zealand's most beautiful lakes.

We provide an alternative in accommodation from the mainstream hotel and tourism facilities and provide guests with a true lake edge experience.
Sitting literally right on the beach, The Lakehouse has uninterrupted views across the English cottage garden and green front lawn to the lake, with views beyond of native bush, farmland and to Mount Tarawera.

The Lakehouse is located in a tranquil bay at the end of a peninsula offering total seclusion and facing to the north.
Due to the proximity to Rotorua The Lakehouse is ideal for couples, families and as a corporate executive retreat or for the touring overseas guests.
Enjoy the all year round serenity, solitude and privacy. It will provide an ideal venue for entertainment and is a quality accommodation by the lake edge.

There are many vantage points on the ¾ acre property to sit back and soak up the quiet natural atmosphere. The beach is sheltered and safe for swimming or for parking your boat. The bush clad hills flow to the waters edge where you can paddle in the kayaks while listening to the cicadas, and watch the native tuis and wood pigeons romancing above.

Enjoy our 2 kayaks, dinghy for rowing or use the 8 hp outboard for a spot of fishing for rainbow trout. You may wish to cast a line off the beach or waterfront. Others might like to take up the challenge of a friendly game of tennis.
